New on HBO Max in September 2020 - Rotten Tomatoes

rotten.indah.link

The month of September brings brand new HBO content, as well as original HBO Max films and series to the streaming service.

Premiering this month on HBO Max are Ridley Scott’s epic sci-fi series Raised By Wolves, about androids raising human children on a mysterious new planet; the original film Unpregnant; HBO’s distantly produced special presentation Coastal Elites; Luca Guadagnino’s new HBO series We Are Who We Are; and plenty of films including 2020 horror hit The Invisible Man.

Find out what else is headed to the streaming service, including more on the month’s biggest, most bingeworthy highlights, below.

Description: From executive producer Ridley Scott, Raised By Wolves centers on two androids tasked with raising human children on a mysterious virgin planet. As the burgeoning colony of humans threatens to be torn apart by religious differences, the androids learn that controlling the beliefs of humans is a treacherous and difficult task.

Premiere Date: Sept. 3

Description: From playwright and screenwriter Paul Rudnick and directed by Jay Roach, HBO’s socially distanced comedic satire tells contemporary stories of characters breaking down and breaking through as they grapple with politics, culture, and the pandemic. Bette Midler, Kaitlyn Dever, Dan Levy, Sarah Paulson and Issa Rae star in this special presentation that explores our current world of deeply divided politics and the universal pursuit of human connection.

Premiere Date: Sept. 12

Description: A story about two American kids who live on a U.S. military base in Italy, Luca Guadagnino We Are Who We Are explores friendship, first-love, identity, and immerses the audience in all the messy exhilaration and anguish of being a teenager — a story which could happen anywhere in the world, but in this case, happens in this little slice of America in Italy.

Premiere Date: Sept. 14

Description: Trapped in a violent, controlling relationship with a wealthy and brilliant scientist, Cecilia Kass (Elisabeth Moss) escapes in the dead of night and disappears into hiding, aided by her sister (Harriet Dyer), their childhood friend (Aldis Hodge) and his teenage daughter (Storm Reid). But when Cecilia’s abusive ex (Oliver Jackson-Cohen) commits suicide and leaves her a generous portion of his vast fortune, Cecilia suspects his death was a hoax. As a series of eerie coincidences turns lethal, threatening the lives of those she loves, Cecilia’s sanity begins to unravel as she desperately tries to prove that she is being hunted by someone nobody can see.

Critics Consensus: Smart, well-acted, and above all scary, The Invisible Man proves that sometimes, the classic source material for a fresh reboot can be hiding in plain sight.

Premiere Date: Sept. 19
