A new Zoom-based horror movie filmed during the coronavirus lockdown has achieved a rare 100% Rotten Tomatoes rating.

The certified fresh Host dropped on horror streaming service Shudder, available through Amazon Prime Video, on July 30.

Filmed entirely on Zoom over twelve weeks, Host follows the fallout after a group of six friends hire a medium to conduct an online séance only to end up being targeted by an evil entity — so, relax.

We doubt your Zoom horror stories are worse than this one.

Directed by Rob Savage, Host is a modest 56 minutes long and the leading feature film to emerge from horror sub-genre 'quar-horror' — which is essentially horror filmed in and around coronavirus restrictions.

"Really, we had this great opportunity to freak people out with something that's become part of their daily routine," Savage told NPR.

"Because this is how so many of us have been communicating over the past few months."

For its more dramatic scenes, Savage also confirmed that Host incorporated the use of stuntmen, who would dress as the actors and perform stunts in their own homes for composite shots worked into the finished reel.

The quar-horror genre isn't exactly the first of its kind, with previous webcam-based endeavours such as Searching and the Unfriended franchise paving the way for this kind of film.

With other genres of entertainment also looking to tackle the coronavirus pandemic head-on in future releases, it only seems appropriate that horror is first out of the gate.

Host is available to watch via Shudder on Amazon Prime Video now.
