Netflix's Enola Holmes charmed critics, bringing in a 91 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes' Tomatometer, with over 64 critics weighing in to approve of the newest teen detective.
According to Rotten Tomatoes, the critical consensus is, "Enola Holmes brings a breath of fresh air to Baker Street -- and leaves plenty of room for Millie Bobby Brown to put her effervescent stamp on a franchise in waiting."
THR declared the film a "successfully imagine[d] place for its heroine in Holmes' world, [and] convinces young viewers that Enola needn't be constrained by that world's borders."
Millie Bobby Brown (Stranger Things) stars as the title character Enola -- Sherlock Holmes' precocious little sister -- who searches for her missing mother, seeks to outsmart her overconfident big brother and help a runaway lord amidst unpredictable adventures. Enola Holmes is based on the book series of the same name, written by Edgar Award winner Nancy Springer. The filming of the movie took place mostly within London and Bedfordshire, sticking as close as possible to Holmes' famous street views.
Directed by Fleabag's Harry Bradbeer, Enola Holmes stars Millie Bobby Brown, Sam Claflin, Adeel Akhtar, Fiona Shaw, Frances de la Tour, Louis Partridge, Burn Gorman, Susan Wokoma, with Henry Cavill and Helena Bonham Carter. The film arrives on Netflix Sept. 23.
