His House has been the talk of Netflix since its release a few days ago – and for good reason, as it has proved to be a critical smash.

In fact, the new horror thriller has already scored a rare 100% fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes.

The movie follows a young refugee couple (Wunmi Mosaku and Ṣọpẹ Dìrísù) as they struggle to adapt to a new life in England and the ghosts that haunt them.

The perfect critical consensus concludes that His House is a "terrifying look at the specters of the refugee experience and a stunning feature debut for Remi Weekes".

New York Magazine called it "beautifully made" with "monstrously effective" scares, while Rolling Stone praised "its uncanny merging of political experience and the usual".

The stars of His House recently spoke to Digital Spy, with Dìrísù admitting that the human story was just as compelling as the horror.

"Wunmi and I have discussed a lot about how if you remove the monster from the story, it's equally as powerful and in some ways, slightly more terrifying because this is a lived experience of so many people," he said.

"The psychology of it and the mental trauma that you can't avoid when you go through journeys that Bol and Rial do, there's an entire layer to the story that can't be denied and is equally as powerful as the thrill and horror of the monster.

"That duality and the layers of the storytelling was definitely something that attracted me, and I think I speak for Wunmi when I say it attracted both of us to the project."

His House is available to stream now on Netflix.
